Updating

Applies to ProQuranTutor Professional, all versions.

What the updater does

The installation asks us what the newest release is for its product and channel, and we answer with a signed manifest: the version, its release notes, its requirements, and the checksum of the archive. The installation verifies our signature before it believes any of it.

If it decides to install, it asks us to authorize a download, and we answer with a time-limited address. The archive's SHA-256 is checked against the signed manifest before anything is unpacked.

What "updates included until" means

It is the date up to which a release had to be published for you to be able to install it. It is not the date your software stops working.

When that date passes:

• your academy keeps running, exactly as before;
• you can still re-download and reinstall every version you were entitled to, for recovery or a rebuild;
• you stop being offered newer releases until you renew.

Renewal is a single twelve month Updates and Support renewal. Renewing before the date extends from your existing date; renewing after it starts twelve fresh months from the renewal, with nothing charged for the gap.

Before you update

Take a backup. Read the release notes, which the updater shows you and which the portal also lists. If a release says it requires a minimum PHP version or a minimum current version, the updater will refuse rather than half-install it.
