Production, staging and development

Applies to ProQuranTutor Professional, all versions.

A ProQuranTutor Professional licence allows:

How we decide which is which

We classify the installation ourselves from the hostname it activates on, and the signed licence carries our classification. The installation's own opinion is not what counts, because otherwise the allowance would mean nothing.

• A development installation is one on a local or private address.
• A staging installation is accepted automatically when its first hostname label is staging, stage, test, uat, preview or dev, directly under the same registrable domain as your production installation.
• Anything else on a public domain is production.

If you need a different staging address

A staging site on a separate domain, a staging site before a production installation exists, or a second staging site needs an approved exception. That is a real decision by a person at Fetch, recorded with the reason, and it is granted once for one named domain.

Open a support ticket and say what the host is and why.

Moving production to a new server

Release the old installation from the licensing screen on the old server first. That frees the production slot, and the new server can then activate. If the old server is gone and cannot release itself, ask us and we will release it for you.
